Investment for Joining Guardian and  NCFCA
Competitive speech and debate teams like the Guardians is a significant commitment.  Families who join usually make this a significant part of their home-school education.

Time Investment:

• Speech and debate students must participate in an approved speech and/or debate camp.
• Weekly meetings –  Fall ; Occasional meetings in spring
• Preparing for weekly meetings depending on participating in debate – 3-10 hours
• Commitment to attending at least one tournament. Here you would invest 4-5 days per tournament. 

Parent Investment:

• Parents are required to attend club meeting with their students.
• One parent must accompany their student(s) at each tournament.
• Normal tournament days run from 7:30AM to 9PM.

Financial Investment (Approximate values and are subject to change)

• Annual club dues (per student) - $40 for speech, $40 for debate, $25 juniors; $200 MAX per family
• NCFCA affiliation - ~$150 per year; This is required for all Guardian families 
• Speech and debate Camps - $TBA
• Tournament competition
  • Registration - $15; Speech categories - $13; Debate $35
  • Gas, lodging, meals. (Often, lodging is shared with other families and many families bring their own meals vs. buying meal plans.
  • Tournament attire - suit or suit coat and pants for guys; dresses or pant suits for ladies. 
  • Basic school supplies including debate curriculum
